Great photos Dawn, but that ostrich pic should be entered for a competition. That is a seriously good photo. Looks like a great Zoo. Did the animals have nice large enclosures?

Most of them do. Marwell is pretty good for that. The ostriches were in a massive field with some antelope and buffalo. There's a big area out the back of the zoo that most people miss too which often has giraffe and other plains herd roaming through.

Awesome gift shop too - managed to leave another 25 in there in exchange for stuff.

I don't know which shot I like best, so I'll pick them all! The red panda looks so cozy! I love otters, but the shot of Timone :D and Steven is perfect!

I used to have a photo similar to the ostrich one that I used as an aspect of training case managers. LOL! Only the one I used didn't have the cool bit of grass and sod on it's beak.

Looks like quite a nice zoo, Dawn. I'm usually pretty harsh on zoos, but the enclosures all looked good and the animals didn't look distressed.

The cheetah is magnificent!

Thank you for taking the time to share your outing with us! (Next time, can I have some ice cream)? :D

I'm not usually a fan of zoos but this place does it better than most.

I have photos of snakes and spiders too but I'm not posting those.

And I found out this morning that I was within walking distance of 3 caches just outside the zoo.

I wish to extend my profound and heartfelt, utterly sincere thanks to you for NOT posting snake photos!   Would have ruined this beautiful thread! :cry2: :cry2:

Well, as for the caches? You'll just have to go back! :D

I saved the pink-toed tarantula photo for private viewing.

We'll be back there in the summer - really should buy the annual pass.

I love my ostrich photo the more I look at it. I was about 3 feet away from it with just a fence between us. Just raised the camera over the fence and zoomed in a touch. :D

It is a great shot.

Steven surely seems to enjoy animals. Is that the case, or is it more the exuberance of a young boy for being outdoors and out of school? :D

He likes the animals. Especially the leaf-cutter ants. He likes looking for the hidden animals - like the leopard who wouldn't come out of his house yesterday - we got a glimpse of ear. He likes to go in the play areas too. But best of all he liked the little train ride.
