to Ireland again after being so ill last time but........

My Mum is booked to go on the 02.45am ferry next Wednesday morning. My Aunty (by marriage) was due to go with her for what would have been an emotional visit as last time she was there was with my Uncle (Mums brother) who was having a last visit back home as he was dying from cancer.....we thought he may not make it back but he did and survived a further 4 months, maybe the trip gave him a new lease of life - he seemed so well.

However, sadly her sister who has been very ill passed away last night in her sleep at hospital so my Aunty won't be going now.

So the boys and I will take her place and we will be staying at Bill and Anns again.

Do you think the boys were pleased? Heck no, the car journey and the ferry (fair enough), Dad not going as he's working, the boredom (eldest DS) - urgh! moan moan moan.

I've persuaded them and I'm sure they'll enjoy it but Jay is just being a right wotsit about it all. Come On, it's only from Tues to Sunday AND Granny is cutting her holiday short by a few days to accomodate us.....

Ahhh, I remember those days of being a child and where it was completely appropriate to throw a tantrum :D Now people just look at me funny.

Yes, walk cautiously around as any rumble or direct eye contact could alter the mood. :D

Easter in Ireland. Be still my heart. Please, please tell your sweet son that he has no idea how wonderful this is. :hug2: I know as a young dude :D He probably can think of loads of more "exciting" things to do, but tell him for me that I would trade places with him in a heartbeat. He can stay here and go to WDW every day and I'll soothe my soul in Ireland.

If only that could possibly happen. :sigh: :cry2:

So, young man. Go. Lavish yourself with the beauty that is Ireland and be forever grateful that you can get there with such ease. :hug2:

well he can't be hating the idea *that* much today as he's been planning to go back to those humungous sand dunes!

i sense progress being made here.......possibly

They usually go collecting golf balls in the evenings with Bill, it's their thing - the lads all together! However, Bill is going to be fairly busy this time but i'm sure he'll make a bit of time for them.

:hug2: i realise we're very lucky to be able to go. i was so envious of my Mum and Aunty going, so although in unfortunate circumstances i am very excited to be able to go again.

I'm just going to go and put last years trip reports in an index so you can read them if you'd like to Tinkfan.

 Thank you so much! That was an amazing trip report. My family came from Cork, Wales and probably everywhere in between!! LOL! We have been tracing our history and both sets of my great grandparents made the trip over. My husbands family came from Cheshire. So beautiful to see the pictures!

Aren't Mairead's reports lovely, Tinkfan? I did so very much enjoy reading about her visit.

Hopefully, we'll hear about this recent one too. :D :D :D :wiggle:

of course there'll be a trip report and photos.

i read through those again last night - it's so good to be going back. I think of you Tink when I'm there now and try to get pictures you'll like to see, and I'll do the same for you too Tinkfan.

Way back when my Mums family came from both Ireland and Wales too, i think that's not unusual in Irish families is it? My Dads family haven't been traced back that far so I'm not really sure when they all started from, other than both his parents were from Ireland!
