...our outing today at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden...

I'm posting them as a collage because there are a LOT of photos...

I'll post individuals of my favorites tomorrow...

The gardens were incredible, and the day turned out to be sooooo nice!

Yeah! Look at those flowers. Absolutely gorgeous! I hope to visit the botanical gardens here at the end of the month.

Can I ask how you did color and b and w in the same photo?

Love them! My favorite is the black and white path. :D

absolutely gorgeous!!

There are several ways you can do it FD...most commonly, you can attain it with the "magic wand," "edge finder" or "lasso tool" in most photo editor programs. However, the way THESE were done was with a feature on a new point and shoot I'm trying out for the weekend...it's a Canon and it has a feature called "color accent." You point your lens at the color you're interested in isolating, lock it in, and then take your shot. It's adds a really cool effect, don't you think?

OOOH!!! I almost forgot!!! Here's my favorite flower of the day (though I have to admit I can't for the life of me sort out *why* they call it what they do...)

Fantastic photos  The middle collage is my favourite....did you alter the colour of the tree to the left of the botanic gardens sign? The petals on the ground look lilac on my computer!

beautiful photos Becca, and the collage is so effective - wonderful!

Thanks Becca. I believe I have that wand tool in my corel program and will have to give it a go. I unfortunately have not read the manual for corel yet, I'm thinking I will do that today.

And yes, it's an awesome effect!!! One of the coolest I've ever seen.

No, that particular photo was straight out off the camera. I think the color is sort of influenced by the photos around it...I noticed it too!

I'll have to post it as a single photo and see what it looks like :D

Awesome shot (the pretty purple tree) coming right out of the camera. :D

Absolutely beautiful Becca! :hug2: I love the botanical gardens (nearly anywhere! :spring: ).

Love the Mickey Mouse Tulips! LOL. Never thought about the color combination leading to the name. I suppose it would!

Tis' a pretty area for a ceremony...  :D :D

Absolutely beautiful (as ever!)

Thanks guys :) It was such a lovely day after all...even Andrew seemed to enjoy himself!

FD, definitely give that effect a go...it's a bit tedious at times, but well worth the outcome!

Some great photos there Becca. Love those tulips myself.

beautiful colours, did you get the template for the collage on photobucket?

04-05-2009, 05:20 PM
...actually the collage was done in Picassa, another free program

I'm a huge fan of free ;-)

04-05-2009, 05:24 PM
And see I didn't know picassa did that either...sheesh. And I do have Picassa

04-05-2009, 05:26 PM
Click through your library with CTRL/Select and choose the photos you want to use and then at the bottom you'll see an option that reads "Collage"...click on that and it will carry you through the next few steps...loads of options...have fun!

04-05-2009, 05:38 PM
Very cool! I gave it a go and then realized that Picassa will organize them for you.

04-05-2009, 05:46 PM
Yes they will organize them, although you can shuffle them about...I just usually keep shuffling them until I'm pleased with the result.

Now with the "picture pile" effect, you can manage them a bit more....give that one a try as well.

Also, I like to add a bit of a margin/border between the photos just to give them some distinction...otherwise I find the eye gets too busy...

04-05-2009, 05:48 PM
Yeah I can see the too busy effect, especially in all that grey with mine....back to the drawing board! But still a very neat option! Especially when you have lots to share with folks. Or they would be a great wallpaper for the desktop.

04-05-2009, 05:52 PM
That's what happened with my first "blossom" collage...all the pink made me dizzy, the borders really added definition. (BTW, it's my desktop wallpaper at the moment :) )

Also, I always overshoot the number of photos and then remove them one at a time (you'll see different layouts, the more photos you add).

Not being bossy, mind, just sharing a few things I've learned along the way (Do I sound bossy? Sometimes I feel like I sound bossy?)

04-05-2009, 06:03 PM
Definitely not bossy. :hug2: You are sharing your experiences and helping us out through them. :D

Becca, your pictures are gor~geous !!!
