Has been raining non-stop since Sunday night, my backyard is a lake!

And now I just heard from Gareth's school that where possible they are sending the kids home as the roads around school are threatening to flood and trap them there!

I know we need the rain but this is getting ridiculous! :surrender:

We came home to much the same, Kazza. Sides of the roads are flooded, and our pool was literally at the brink. Herself is out there now in the dark and the rain hooking it up to drain off. Not that she'd allow any help, mind. :sigh: "No reason on earth for us both to be out there." :sigh:

We too needed the rain, but this is over the top. Our container gardens of tomatoes and herbs are not too happy with all the water either. The roses, and the grass, love it.

Let's hope it stops soon!

We can hope - current forecast is for at least 2 more days!

It is lashing down. We aren't sure the hose is up to the job of taking the pool level down while the rain is coming down so heavily. :sigh:

Not much to do about it other than worry.

Next time we go away one of you best come and house sit for us.

I'd like to be first in line to volunteer for that job, please :D :D :D

And if Becca is unable to fulfil her duties for any reason.... Pick me!!!

Tink
20-05-2009, 01:33 AM
Will you be sure to smell the roses, and pluck the herbs?

Beccaberry

Every. Single. Solitary. Day.

Without hesitation.

(and I won't bring my dog with me) :nono:

Yep - although I am not the world's best gardener I'm willing to pretend!

Tink

Well then, if you'll swim in the pool (and be sure to splash it about! :D ) have tee martoonis in the poolside martini glasses, smell the roses, pluck the herbs and listen for Wishes, then you'll be fine! :D :D

Tink

There are two chaises on the lanai. :D :D

Beccaberry

Whole Foods sells the BEST blue cheese stuffed olives... paper thinly sliced prosciutto di parma, and an incredible selection of cheese. Excellent poolside fare. :D :D

The gas grill and the charcoal grill are available too.

I don't mean to run you off, but how soon can you be on the road again?

Tink
20-05-2009, 01:40 AM
Jon? Well. Yes. Of course. Everyone should have a cabana boy. :D :D

Tink
20-05-2009, 01:41 AM
Well, we are off to Ohio for a wedding over the fourth of July weekend. :D

Jon? Does he look good in white then?  :D

Beccaberry
20-05-2009, 01:42 AM
My Jon looks good in a rainbow of colors :)

And he makes a brilliant cabana boy...he can carry towels with the best of 'em.

And he mixes a MEAN martooni :)

Tink
20-05-2009, 01:47 AM
But the all important question, does he look good in white? A cabana boy must ALWAYS look good in white, whether they are in Miami or ... well, or not!

Beccaberry
20-05-2009, 01:48 AM
Oh my dear...he looks STUNNING in white.

Simply stunning.

kazzaqld
20-05-2009, 01:49 AM
He'd look ok in white yes!

Tink
20-05-2009, 01:51 AM
Ok then! We're all set!

Oh, and if you don't feel like using gas or charcoal grills, there is an electric grill in the garage you can bring out to the lanai.

Herself is a bit over the top when it comes to grills. :D (Yes, she has a separate smoker too).

My grandfather would ADORE her :)

My sister only just managed to get her boys from school - she had to wade through knee-deep fast running water to get them!

And her DH is unlikely to be able to get home with all the roads that are currently cut!

The sky is blue now and the sun is out - so hopefully the waters will start to recede soon!

That's really good news Karen, must be a relief!

Tink, I hope your rain eases soon, I really do :sigh:

However, I would also like to offer my housesitting capabilities :D Cabana boys in white, grills, martoonis, gorgeous poolside food.....s'ok, I won't need a chaise. I will sit on the edge of the pool and dangle my toes in  I'll sort the food out and use the herbs. I promise  And I love to smell the roses :)

A girl can dream....

I want to stay at Tinks.

I'd do all the jobs and cut the grass as well. I'd put up snake deterrants too.

We had one third of our average annual rainfall in one day! :jawdrop:

But you would hardly know it today - sun shining, blue skies and everything looks like it's had a good wash!

We were lucky!

Still raining here. :( Roads are flooding too, but not quite in the same fierce manner as they were with Kazza.

Have to say, Dawn and her "snake deterrants" is winning the day! LOL. Not that it's a contest mind. Just sayin'. :D
