So, my bestest pal from Indiana visited this weekend and we had plans to visit the mall, IKEA, Chicago Botantical Gardens and Long Grove Historic Village. Well, the mall was done in about two hours, but then we spent around 5 hours in IKEA. That pretty much left only 1 day to do both the Gardens and Village. We opted to go to the village first as it opened at 11am. Well, we were there pretty much all day. This is a 'village' in IL that was first settled by Germans in 1800's. Now the village is a bunch of shops are all walkable.

The shops are very expensive, one place was selling homemade choc for $24 a pound. :thud: Even I couldn't pay that much. But I did purchase a dip mix and a 4 piece spice mix to combine with oil to eat with bread. It was fun walking around and just going in and out of all the shops. They also have church and cemetery there. Someone was in fact getting married that day. Their colors seems to be black, cream, and pink.

The shop I enjoyed the most was run my true Irish folks (I heard their accents) and they sold items that actually came from Ireland. They were selling these sweaters that I sooooo wanted, but after buying a kitchen table at IKEA at decided that I should not get a beautiful cream wool sweater, that would have kept me ooooo so warm.

I'll post some photos. The camera worked out fantastic, but after taking a few photos I realized I should have brough my smaller lens.

Thanks Diane! Yep, 5 hours. I don't know how it happened, it just kinda did. I guess that's what happens when you touch everything and try everything out.

I love those pics Billie, really gives a flavour of the place  And of course so different in style to what we'd get here!

Glad to see you found a cemetry. Wouldn't want you getting withdrawal symptoms would we? :D

 Definitely don't want withdrawal symptoms. As soon as I heard there was one, I knew we had to visit.

There was so much to visit. In fact, we missed a few stores unfortunately.

I love that photo with the bridge, and also the last one in the first post. They are brilliant, as are the rest!

I do like the covered bridge as well. Feels real comfortable and calm.

Long Grove is one of my favorite places to spend a day :D I took Johnie there when she was here visiting last summer and we did all the shops, had lunch, and did some to the shops again.

Bille make sure you plan a day to go again around Christmas time as they really really do a wonderful job of decorating
