itunes question

Okay, so I would like to have my itunes on both of my computers. I remember when I got my laptop a few years ago, I hooked up my ipod and lost all my music as there was nothing on there to sync so it just disappeared. I would like to connect my ipod to my new desktop and then have all the songs from my ipod show up on the itunes on that computer. Does anyone know how to do that?

i bought a liitle download program to do it Transfer iPod music to PC copy songs from iPod to computer,iPod to iTunes (http://www.copytrans.net/) its good and i didnt loose my songs
