View Full Version : Spur of the moment and DVC comes through!

I was on the phone this morning booking a grand villa for August when all the family are here for the cruise. (Successful, I might add). Now they all have a nice place to stay and are all in one place prior to heading for DCL. Gotta' love the flexibility of the DVC.

Anyway, while on the phone I decided to ask on the spur of the moment if there would be anything open for this weekend. YEP!!!! There is!! :D :D

So! We are staying at OKW to check in on Friday and check out on Sunday. Look for a short (maybe even get some photos this time!!!) Gay Days trip report from me when I return! :D :D (Or maybe live, as I'll take the laptop).

How's that for luck, eh?

It is pure luck, innit?

Now, I have to try and find something red. :sigh: It's so hot in June I've never worn it before, but Herself is going to so I'll buck up and do so too. We'll be having little white ribbons tied with a knot too.

If it weren't so hot I'd wear the new Levis in support of their corporation's support of the Gay community, but I'd get sick with the heat. Wiener. That's what I am.

We've not stayed at OKW in a bit, so I'm really looking forward to it!

I was really happy that we could get a Grand villa this late in the game, too! It's going to be wicked fun to have them all there. The OKW grand villas are so cool! Huge, two floors! :9: Maybe we'll stay there with them instead of staying home! :D

I think I'm actually a little excited now.

That`s great news Tink.
A few years ago we had a grand villa and there were only me and my DW and 2 of our friends and their young daughter [my god daughter] staying there so we rattled about the place a bit!
It was one of those years when I had a surplus of points and it was a case of "use `em or lose `em" so I went for it and I was so glad I did.
It was just like having your own home with the added benefit of having that home actually on site.
You will have a ball..

LOL, Siobhan! YES MA'AM! :D :D

It will be fun, both this weekend and in August.

Becca, you come right along woman! The studio that we have for this weekend has plenty of room for we three! :D :D (ooooh, three wyyrd sisters and all that)! :D

I'm a little surprised at how excited I am. I think it's been a long many months. Christmas didn't really go as we'd hoped so the last time we were really having any relaxation and fun was on the Olivia Cruise over Thanksgiving. Work has been crazy hectic and planning the cruise has been a trial (with all sorts of tension as you can imagine) that has added stress.

I have to go to NC this week (leave tomorrow) and will be back lateish on Friday so will go right from the airport to WDW like a real visitor! :D

Stand by for some wild photos! :D Last year the t's were wicked, so I'm hoping to get some shots of the funnier and more irreverent ones.

Tink, that sounds like a great weekend you have planned!

I second (third?) what everyone has said about pictures! Please!!

Tink
01-06-2009, 11:29 PM
Siobhan, you touch my heart. :hug2: I will make every effort to get photos and share with you all. :hug2:

The white ribbon, tied with a knot in the center is the semiotic for Same Gendered Marriage. "Tie the knot" so to speak. White, as it is the traditional color for weddings and well, WHITE PARTY!!!

So, I couldn't come up with anything red. Just no time, so I'll be wearing my Tink tank :D with red and white ribbons. Red for the obvious and for the traditional AIDS support and white, as we've said.

I don't get in until wicked late on Friday, but will be raring to go on Saturday. :D

Room for a fourth? Well, whydin'tcha' all tell me ya' wanted to come? I'd have gotten a grand villa! :D :D :D

Awww, wouldn't that be cool though? Going to MK on the first Saturday in June with my Disney Secrets, friends? Wow. Makes me leaky to think of it. :spring:

Here's a link to an article about Levis. They've long been supporters of the LG community.

Uhhhhh...nope! :lipwobble: That wasn't part of the plan, Sister Tinker! Posting photos of the weekend, yep. Us? NOPENOPENOPE!!!

I had a call from Herself last evening. She was out shopping (this woman LOATHES shopping) for a red shirt for me. How nice is that! She found one too! So now I'll be in red like the "rest of 'em." I'll be the one with the HRC sticker on my red shirt! :D

Hope I don't melt in the sun...

I'd go with you in a heartbeat. And I'd happily wear whatever color you wanted me to wear. And if you found yourself alone it would be a pleasure to casually just take hold of your hand or drape an arm across your shoulder in a show of support. :hug2:

But hey, photies will do. :D

Well Dawn you just come along then and drape over two shoulders! :D :D

Sister Tinker I have a heavy schedule in June. I'll be in SC, NC and Dallas for most of it! :sigh:

This weekend for Gay Days and the weekend of the 12th for SWW with Seth and his Da are about the only times I'll be around. :(

So Sad , you are away while I am there , Sister Tink . Another time ,
Becca, I'm sorry , what a wonderful idea . I'm going to get a white ribbon while Kim and I are out on Friday . Are we all to post a picture of us waving the flag ? There is talk of a Pride Parade over the bridge .

Tink

June is the month when many places have their Pride celebrations. Other areas have them in October, some in December.

Just a little reminder (from ever so stuffy and old fashioned Tink)? Remember that all the unique sorts of representations you see at the Pride celebrations are not the sum total of the mainstream gay community. :) For the majority of gay folk, you'd not be able to pick us out of a crowd. :) :wiggle:

Then there are some of us... You understand what I mean, eh? Pride tends to focus on the extremes in our community (and that seems to be ALL you see in any newscast) and that is fine. Just wanted to do a little reminder that the majority of gay folk are boring as hell.

I think we are all mostly boring unless you are filming a reality tv show, then you are getting paid to be extreme!! :)

Tink, have I ever mentioned my DH is in a local band so we are always out in the local music scene in my area. We are quite used to being in the gay community around here but I have never seen the extremes that I saw while at US and WDW during Gay Days. Totally all-out exteme in some cases!

:) Jon and I will be wearing our white ribbons into the city tomorrow. We took the day off ages ago to meet some family who are flying in for the week (remember my new cousin who was born on New Year's? Yep! That's whose coming!)

My cousin is flying in for a visit at the end of the month during NYC Pride. We'll be going into the city for the parade and to meet of few of her friends :) That should be a fun evening (Tink, I'll be wearing my boa  )

It's gonna be a fun month!

Tink, this weekend sounds brilliant! How cool that you couldget that room at short notice and everything fell into place  Have a wonderful time, you and herself :hug2:

Like Siobhan, I want to see special photos too. And like Dawn, I want to knowwhat my white ribbon should look like for Saturday.....though I guess you're a bit busy to reply right now....

Tink
05-06-2009, 11:15 AM
I'm here.

You can make them from any width ribbon you choose, but a bit wider ribbon is best as it allows the knot to show. I've cut short bits, "v'd" the ends (mine is about a 1/2 inch wide grosgrain ribbon) and tied a knot in the center. I'll use a tiny safety pin to attach it to my shirt. You can put them anywhere you please, really. Some wear them on the pockets of their Levis, some on their collars, sleeves, wherever you like.

Some fray the ends of their ribbons, but that's too messy for me. :spring: :D

Tink
05-06-2009, 11:17 AM
Yes, Rosie. You'll see extremes when large groups get together. As you say, much the same with anyone eh? Ever see those Red Hat ladies when they all get together for a parade?

Becca. I want photos!!!! (We do love our boas, don't we)? :D :D
