To prove to 'nut and myself really how easy it would be to make a video on the mac with imovies - this took a grand total of 6 minutes to film upload - edit and publish

not going to win an oscar but I cannot believe how easy it was and I cannot wait to dig out the old baby videos :D

 I just had fun playing with the video maker - sooo much to fiddle with on there - you can just drop in anything from your itunes over any sequence it is unbelievably cool

I don't know what that means but well done anyway. :D

Skywatcher

Its just a move maker and when you've finished you just click - upload to you tube and - well it takes care of all of that as well :mental:

What a star!

I'm ashamed to admit I've not really played with anything on mine apart from iPhoto. Poppy uses GarageBand but that's all as far as I know.

And Thomas is kinda amazing too! Course part of that's undoubtedly due to his name! :laugh2:

Tom (:macwave:... proponent of all things iLife and lo, another Thomas!)

Ooh, I'd love to be able to do that. I have a video of my dear departed parents and no way of playing it. :(

Keith

 people underestimate how brilliant iLife 09 and iwork 09 are. They're SOOOOO much nicer than anything I've ever found on windows.

OK not as amazing as Thomas I'll admit! Be interesting to see what Thomas comes up with when he starts programming :D probably iMovie holographic version

Skywatcher
17-05-2009, 06:33 PM
Seriously - I have tried video editing software on windows a few times and given up

because

1. It was very complicated

and

2. I always had the impression that I may lose a bit of work or if I didn't like something I did I wouldn't be able to 'undo' it easily

I suppose I just feel safer with the mac stuff so far and I'm only just beginning to scratch the surface - I am actually now really looking forward to trawling through all the old mini clips we had on our old digital cameras to put together a 'suite ' of their lives whereas before it would have been a major chore and Lisa would have had to have left the house to stop the kids learning some 'interesting' words.

Just the bit about dropping the music over - that took literally 5 seconds - Thomas loves that bit of music so you click the note button and in the search window type summer and up it comes on all the albums its on then you drop it over the bit of the film you want.

I am just amazed by the software really I truely am

Chris,

Remember that iMovie will also work with the still photos that you have. One thing that I've done is taken my vacation photos (Disney Cruise, etc), bring them into iMovie as stills, add effects to them (Ken Burns, etc.), add a soundtrack and export the whole mess to iDvd. Makes a spectacular presentation that you can view on your TV. Or make gifts of the DVD's for your friends!

With your space pictures, I can imagine some unbelievable movies and DVD's.

Tom (:macwave:... I just LOVE this stuff)

Blast dial-up! It is completely incompatible with anything video or audio. :sigh:

I'll try to look at the video at the office tomorrow. Absolutely want to see Thomas in action!

Daniel says that he needs to practice more so that he can get the world record!

17-05-2009, 10:00 PM
Is that in real-time or speeded up? :thud:

Skywatcher
17-05-2009, 10:55 PM
It is real time but I agree it looks a bit jerky in places. His record is 45 seconds.

:thud: WOW! Even more impressive. I seriously thought it was sped up- not because it looked like it was, just because I didn't believe anyone could do it that quickly, never mind someone so young! He is seriously talented.

Dawn
18-05-2009, 07:22 AM
It's not sped up. I've seen Thomas perform live and he really is that scary.

He told me from memory the world record times for every cube that he owns and his fastest times for them. I was backing away slowly.

Wow!!!! Thomas is amazing, you can tell he loves doing it too bless him.

I hope he is being suitably challenged at school to help him develop his potential using his natural talent for problem solving. If not I would get him into a private maths program.

LOL your video is great by the way.
