how difficult is it to get married in florida.
do you need to be resident for a certain length of time.
what documents do you need.
is there an idiots guide anywhere?
thanks in advance :)
All you need is a license, and you obtain that from the county courthouse, I do believe. No residency requirements.
Several folks here have married in FL, our Keith for one, so they'll be along soon to fill you in on all the details.
Leu Gardens in Winter Park (just a touch north of Orlando) is a lovely venue for a wedding. :D :D So is Bok Tower south of Disney. :D :D

reeeeeeallllly easy :) (some may say.... TOO easy  )
Seriously though it's great. Very simple indeed.
Go to the courthouse with a few dollars, buy a license. There's no waiting time for out of state folks and no residency requirements. You obviously need a couple of forms of ID to get the license but that's it.
Then take your pick of locations and officiants. Voila!
If you've got any specific questions I'll try and help

We got engaged at V&A and we couldn't think of anywhere we'd rather be married so in the end we did the full Disney wedding with at the wedding pavilion even though there were so few of us !
I'd do exactly the same thing again and indeed got a slap on the day for saying "I think this is exactly how I'll do my next wedding" :)
Seriously though, despite hating our disney wedding coordinator, she was rubbish, it all went perfectly and was beautiful from start to finish. Even the limo ride around celebration and the "snow". Perfect.
It was expensive but worth it.
Now the hairdressing. At the time we got married Disney did all that as part of the package. The Disney folks came to our room, threw me out :/ and worked their magic. I believe that you now have to make your own arrangements with a local hair/makeup place of your choosing.

If you don't do the Disney option, I had a wonderful lady come to my hotel room and do my hair. She gave me a wonderful updo which lasted all day. If you get to the stage where you are looking for someone and need her number, I'll look it up for you Ann.
You can get an idea of my hair from a couple of photos I have in my trip report....in my trip report index below. (Isafari's secret wedding vow renewal.)

My very best tip is to do the Magic Kingdom wedding photo session! you don't have to do it on the day and perhaps even better a few days after but it's completely wonderful. The whole park to yourselves and photos in places you wouldn't normally be able to get to see
