And so begins life without Springwatch. :(

Still Autumnwatch is on in September. :D

Been competing with my mum about the birds on our feeder.

Me: Goldfinch

Mum: I see your Goldfinch and raise you a Chaffinch

Me: I see your Chaffinch and raise you a Greenfinch

Mum: I see your Greenfinch and yesterday we had a pair of Great Tits feeding their chicks with food from our table.

Me: :unimpressed: you win.

I finish my phased return to work today so next week it's back to full time.
Exciting day at school as the new house system is officially launched and Robyn takes on her role as house captain.
I finish at 12.30 then I'm going snow tubing with all the kids that applied for leadership roles. They are being rewarded by the school for their hard work.
Mum and Dad are home Sunday and I can't wait to hear about their trip!

Apart from getting our hols booked and being excited about that, it's been a fraught and tiring week with puppy Basil. Just got back from the vet at the Dogs Trust, where I rehomed him from, and she seemed a lot more understanding than my regular vet, and they'll be treating him now as the Trust will be footing the bill. She understood why my vet had been so pessimistic about Basil's prognosis, but that she wouldn't have put it that way, and there's a lot can be tried before it would come to the worst case scenario. He may have arthritis, but if they can control the pain that's not too bad. I feel a little better because I'm a bit more informed. Met one of Basil's siblings (we had to decide between him and Basil when we chose) on the way out though and he's way bigger than Basil! Healthy and even pretty well trained! Oh well  Starting him on a different food today and hope it will help with the tummy troubles.

Waiting for Mr Deb to come home early this afternoon, and if the weather stays nice we'll be cooking and eating outside. Lamb kebabs are marinating and I'm about to make some humous and salads. Yum!

Have you considered a BARF diet deb?

We tried that diet once

The good thing is, at least here, there's a ocmpany that delivers a weekly supply to your door, and it is far more healthy

the bad thing... its more expensive than regular dog food, its smelly and a bit yucky to serve ...

So in the end, what we did was, cook our own pet food... I know it snot the same problem, but one of our dogs was a bit allergic to dry pet food, after eating he kept sneezing and wheezing and scratching.... and another one of our dogs got a few UTIs, even with blood in his urine... we tried several brands and nothing helped...

So.. what we do now is buy.... chicken breasts, or beef... some veggies (whatever is the cheapest... potatoes, carrots, peas) and rice... lots of rice...

and we make doggie stew :) ... my dogs are healthier, well nourished and LOVE eating their food....

I'm eating an ice-lolly while my cat tries her best to get it from me, it's not easy, eating, typing and fending off a cat!

It's Friday!

It's been another rugged week. Too much to do, and too little time in which to do it!

The colleague with the octogenarian mother, four dogs and nine cats finally made it out of the office late yesterday afternoon for her weekend up north for trail riding (horses) with a group. We took three of her dogs to the Doggy Dude Ranch for the duration--the two largest (90 lbs & 70 lbs) and the smallest (long-haired Chihuahua). The senior dog (about 7 years old and 50 lbs or so) is staying home with her mother, as well as the cats. A neighbor will be checking on all of them, so she won't worry too much--hopefully!

Grandpa Sweetie (Leu's DH), was just released from the hospital yesterday, so our Las Vegas trip was in jeopardy for a bit. He spent three nights in the VA hospital in Santa Monica (I always thought it was in Westwood--d'oh!) for observation. He has had two heart attacks in the past few years, so there always is concern when he has pain or numbness in certain areas, as well as being very lethargic. Good news is it doesn't appear there was any damage to the heart since the previous heart attack, but he does has some other issues to attend to. His follow-up appointments are for next week, after we return from Las Vegas.

I'll be leaving the house by 6:00 a.m. on Sunday to drive to the airport. The last time I drove there was in 2004! It's actually less expensive to drive and park this trip than to take the shuttle. Amazing!

So, if I don't manage to get back on the forums before we leave, I hope everyone has a good weekend and week! I'm taking my laptop, but seriously doubt if I'll use it for more than checking in on SWA to return home. :)

Kicking back and relaxing after working 12 hour days for the last two weeks. Only thing that would have made it better is if the air conditioning guy could have gotten here this AM. It is now 4:20 and we are still waiting. Been without A/C since Monday.
