Diane says the pictures would have been more level if we had not partaken of the local vino (Lambrusco - in our case a fizzy red wine - quite different)

If you do go to Italy you must drive!

It is a wonderful experience!

They have sporty little Alfas for hire cars
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc206/formally/HPIM0347.jpg

The roads snake up the side of the mountains with hairpin after hairpin
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc206/formally/HPIM0345.jpg

On the autoroutes if you are going too slowly they will gently nerf your rear bumper/fender so that you know it is time to move over. It's quite impressive to find a big German saloon so close behind that you cannot see any of the bonnet/hood in your rearview mirror - just the wipers! I couldn't get a picture of that unfortunately. It is all very good natured though - no anger - just move over please.

Here you go Tink

I've just figured out who Ieuan reminds me of.

Billy the electrician from DIY SOS

Pull out of the 'fast' lane into the slow lane - little Alfa couldn't keep up! Wonderful Italian's hurtling along nose to tail in big German cars. Everyone wants to race - it's a matter of national pride. Really good fun - you get to witness some inspired driving.

Wish that I could email it Wendy!

We've certainly missed out on a lot of Europe - opting for Florida for that last 8 years or so. I must say it was quite refreshing to be able to jump off a plane after only two hours and be somewhere completely different. Italy was really nice and speaking a different language was fun as well. Lots of very beautiful countryside, plenty of history, wonderful food - it's a fine place to go. So much better than France!:gy:
