So, my bestest pal from Indiana visited this weekend and we had plans to visit the mall, IKEA, Chicago Botantical Gardens and Long Grove Historic Village. Well, the mall was done in about two hours, but then we spent around 5 hours in IKEA. That pretty much left only 1 day to do both the Gardens and Village. We opted to go to the village first as it opened at 11am. Well, we were there pretty much all day. This is a 'village' in IL that was first settled by Germans in 1800's. Now the village is a bunch of shops are all walkable.
The shops are very expensive, one place was selling homemade choc for $24 a pound. :thud: Even I couldn't pay that much. But I did purchase a dip mix and a 4 piece spice mix to combine with oil to eat with bread. It was fun walking around and just going in and out of all the shops. They also have church and cemetery there. Someone was in fact getting married that day. Their colors seems to be black, cream, and pink.
The shop I enjoyed the most was run my true Irish folks (I heard their accents) and they sold items that actually came from Ireland. They were selling these sweaters that I sooooo wanted, but after buying a kitchen table at IKEA at decided that I should not get a beautiful cream wool sweater, that would have kept me ooooo so warm.
I'll post some photos. The camera worked out fantastic, but after taking a few photos I realized I should have brough my smaller lens.
