View Full Version : A sprinkling of pixie dust ..........

............... for my wonderful man would be really helpful right now :sigh:

I haven't been here much just lately, because Chris has been poorly.

He had an op at the end of March and has been in and out of hospital ever since. At one point a few weeks back I thought I was going to lose the love of my life :cry2: I've never been so scared :sigh:

I think it's all down to the original op but only one doctor has said it does seem like that, all the others say it's a co-incidence

He's had a few tests and scans done and will hopefully see the consultant on either the 8th July or the 15th July. I guess then they will decide whether to carry out more tests, perform another op or tell us that everything is OK :fingers:

Chris and I have been married 21 years this year and in all those years he has not been ill, he has never been into hospital and has never had more that the odd day off work, so to see him like this is a bit of a shock.

We aren't even sure at the moment whether we will be going on holiday in September, it all depends on the outcome of the appointment. At the end of the day Chris is more important that going away, even though he says he really wants to get away from everything

So if you have a bit of the magic dust that you could spare, he could really do with some good luck

Thank you all :hug2: so much, he's my life and to see him in so much pain and so totally fed up has been heartbreaking. He was just starting to look forward to things again, until Friday evening when the doc said something completely different to what others have said and it knocked the stuffing right out of him.

If you've met Chris you know he has a way about him, I call it his "sparkle" because he's never miserable, can make a joke out of anything and will talk to people he has just met like he's known them forever. Now he is quiet, spends most of his time reading and not saying very much at all :sigh:

So I'm really hoping a sprinkle of dust will work it's magic :D :fingers:

I'm OK, I don't need the dust :) it's Chris I am really worried about. I have to keep telling myself he will be OK and that it's just a blip, but I can't help but compare it to my Dad, he had all these symptoms before he was diagnosed. I know it's completely irrational of me, I guess it's just the same time of the year and it's getting close to the anniversary

Thank you for thinking of him and wishing him well :hug1: I told him last night I'd posted something and he was surprised when I told him how many people had replied and sent him best wishes. He says thank you as well :hug2:

He was a bit down yesterday after work :( :sigh: He'd been talking to someone who has had a similar problem and 4 years later they still don't know what is causing the pain.

My friend says she wants him to be her diet guru because he has lost so much weight :( He's lost 3 stone 4lbs (46lbs) since Christmas :( he looks like he could do with a good meal, all his bones are sticking out :(

Tinkfan :hug2: thank you so much it is very sweet of you.

Wendy, when my Grandad was ill and needed to put on weight, they put him on a special diet that really did help at least gain his appetite back. He had to put a sprinkling of some powder on some of his meals, but mainly it was simple stuff, I.E; Putting cream/full fat milk in his coffe, buttering both sides of his toast.

It really did give him the extra energy he needed to recover. It's probably only applicable in certain situations but it really really did help him and might be worth looking into!

We are NHS Diane, although we are with Benenden so if it takes longer than 6 weeks then they will pay for him to see someone. I'm just worried because his medication finishes on Saturday and our GP won't give him anymore because the hospital notes said for 4 weeks only

I've also just found out that the doctor he is going to see specialises in the elderly and general medicine :sigh: I don't really understand why when he was admitted to the gastro ward  I guess it was because he was the person who was on that day.

Still no appointment today :( the doctor's secretary said we would have one by Friday, do you think I should chase again or just wait until Monday.

:hug2:

Definitely chase it up. Consider seeing a private consultant if you can, it'll be so much quicker. That's the route I took and it was worth every (hard-earned :sigh:) penny.

Wendy

The problem is that until this doctor who saw him in hospital and arranged the tests has seen him, he can't see someone who specialises in gastro problems, so we are in limbo, otherwise I would have phoned Beneden or the Nuffield.

I tried to book him in for another blood test today, to see if his white blood count has gone back to normal, but my surgery said Chris will have to ask the doctor to arrange it :rolleyes008:
