Ok please explain this to me like I am 5 years old

If I wanted to call and text someone in the UK, what do I need to do? Is there anything I put before the phone numbers? I have been told I can do this by my cell phone carrier.

Also, if someone wanted to text me and they are from the UK, what would they do? Would the same thing apply if they were actually inside the US and texting/calling me? Or is there a different protocal then?

TIA!

if you are texting an UK number, I believe you would have to text the country code before the phone number.

yep if the UK number is say 0123456789

you'd text to +44123456789

Actually Johnie you would have to preface that with 011 which is the international access code. In my experience I am sometimes successful with a text message and sometimes not however.

From the UK to text you, they would enter 001 followed by area code and number, although sometimes just the 1 by itself will work.

I use the 01144 and miss off the first 0 of the country code.

The + sign stands instead of the 011

+44 ought to work just fine unless something's changed (OR of course, you dont have a + sign on the phone keypad  it works on mobiles which have it though)

yeah it's really useful. We store all our numbers as +44number so wherever we are, UK, US, Spain, etc. it still works

Johnie

No, I don't have yours.

The last 4 digits of my phone number are 9055. Everything else is the same in case you have the old number.

Dizneyblonde

Make that 3 as the first one was the wrong number so its roughly 25p each

I apologize in advance to anyone who gets a text from me and it lacks certain punctuation. I can't seem to find the right keys for those...esp apostrophes.
