Well....I am just stunned......

So, I work for the state. It's common knowledge that you really have to negotiate your salary well when starting. We just don't get great raises around here. The Govenor typically gives 2-4% raise each year. We didn't get one last Nov due to the budget issues.

So, I come back from lunch and I get this email. I think my mouth may still be hanging open. I have worked here since March 2005. Apparently I was supposed to get a 5% raise when I completed all of my new counselor skills training. I did not get it. I didn't even know about it.

I will be getting my 5% increase on Aug. 1st. They are looking into how much they owe me in backpay since March 2006. Wow. I am just stunned.

Everyone do the happy dance with me :tralala::tralala:

Oh Sandra, I've had a kidney stone once before. I think it was far worse than the caesarean section I had.

28-07-2009, 06:31 PM
Fantastic news!! I'll happy dance with you!

28-07-2009, 06:32 PM
Wow Johnie! That's brilliant :hug2: you totally deserve this . The best part is that it is a double surprise. It would have been nice as a payrise in it's own right, but the backpayment from 3 years is :awesome: too  :hug2: about time something went your way.

Thanks everyone!

The kidney stone has not acted up so fingers crossed that it doesn't. I have some Percocet stashed away from my tubal ligation in case I need it.

Oh Sandra, I've had a kidney stone once before. I think it was far worse than the caesarean section I had.

Serves me right for not checking before - being quite new I didn't realise you were a lady and thought Johnie ... well I'm sure you know what I thought :embarassed:

So in that case you already have a very good knowledge of childbirth - I too have had caesarians and think I was way braver than my DH when he had his kidney stiones

I shall be more careful in furutre and do a bit of investigation before letting my fingers run away with me.

Still great news about your raise, hope you have fun planning how to spend it

Truly Fabulous News, Johnie !!! See good things do happen .
Now about that kidney stone :pdust::pdust: that you aren't bothered by it . Good that you have some leftover relief in case needed .

29-07-2009, 12:18 AM
FANTASTIC, my friend :) Truly so.

29-07-2009, 06:04 AM
Most excellent news on the pay raise and the retro back to 06! I'm guessing someone in your HR department was audited and the oversight was turned up. It's a matter of law for states to compensate fairly as per their policies.

As for the kidney stone, uck. :hug2: (Tubal? When did you have that? Are the meds still ok to take? Be sure they aren't out of date, ok)? :hug2:

29-07-2009, 08:40 AM
:dance::dance: fantastic news I'm dancing with you

29-07-2009, 10:12 AM
That is great news, I had this happen a few months back and got 3000.00. We may also be getting another back pay as I work after 8pm at night.

I am really pleased for you and make sure you enjoy what you get.

29-07-2009, 10:16 AM
Great news about the payrise and backpay - have fun spending it.

Hope the kidney stone doesn't cause you any bother :)

29-07-2009, 11:13 AM
Congrats Johnie. Nothing like a backdated raise to lift one's spirits, in spite of the kidney stone.

29-07-2009, 01:17 PM
I had the tubal ligation at the end of June. So the meds are still fresh. The kidney stone hasn't bothered me at all but I am completely and totally worried it will. Ugh. I had that pain once before and it was awful. I go to my reg. dr on Friday.

29-07-2009, 01:43 PM
Well.....we *could* go to Disney in a couple of weeks to take your mind off of it?

29-07-2009, 01:47 PM
Now THAT is a splendid idea!

29-07-2009, 01:58 PM
