Depends upon the location of the villa. There should be some info posted at the villa or given to you.

Trash and recycling is up to the order of the town/county/village in which you live. Here we recycle many things. Other areas of Orange county, not as much.

If there isn't a recycling program in your area, you are free to do it yourself. Not too practical for a holiday visit, but just saying. :yes:

Oh, meant to add, rubbish/trash should be picked up on a regular basis (usually twice or more per week) by whatever entitiy serves the villa's area. :yes: Sometimes it's local government, other times it's a private contractor. :yes:

OK so it gets collected then. But recycling is a grey area. Maybe I should ask our villa owner.

When we have stayed at villas the trash was collected twice a week in one area and once in another. There was no recycling facility available in either.

We have huge wheelie bins which you had to put on the edge of the kerb the night before. They collect the trash and then for some reason I've never worked out they turn the bins upside down. You have to tie everything up in bags and make sure the lids are securely fitted because the raccoons like to knock the bin over to get at the rubbish :D

Turn the bin over? Weird! We have huge bins on wheels, but they don't turn them over. We also have color coded recycling bins, and yet another bin for garden refuse. If you mix your trash, they won't take it. They leave a sticky label telling you to sort the mess and not put it out again until you do. (Happened to my neighbor). Keeps people cooperative, ya' know? :D

Disney sorts all their rubbish by the way. We use the recycle bins when they are available, but even if you don't, they have a "plant" were all rubbish is sorted and all recycled materials are separated out. :yes:

That's good to know Tink :thumbs_up: I end up taking all my plastic bottles, cans and cardboard home with me if we are out over here and there is nowhere to recycle - I can't bear putting them in normal bins now.

:p015: they turn them upside down, it's mainly the smaller bins, but we've have the big wheelie bin upside down as well - I though there might have been a reason for it :confused:

I'd guess to keep out creatures great and small and rain if it should start pelting down before you return to bring in the bins. :yes:

We have normal bin and a yellow for platic/metal and they ask that cardboard be bound and placed by the green bin and its usualy a two weekly colletion (all collected at same time)

That was my next question - Disney and recycling.

They have recycling cans in each resort room (limited to certain items) and recycling bins in the parks. As Tink mentioned, they also sort through the trash in an onsite plant and remove anything that can be recycled.

I like to recycle too our council has grey bins, brown bins, green bins. Green= non-recyclable, grey=recycling and brown= garden.

It's good, as before that we didn't have time to recycle!
