Thursday. 7am and I am walking the dog in light drizzle.

Steven had boiled egg and toasted soldiers for breakfast which gave me the chance to check that the smoke alarm was working. :sorry:

But hey, while the back door was open allowing the burnt toast smoke to clear I spotted my finest achievement on the bird watching front so far - a green woodpecker. :D

Well by 9am the drizzle was clearing and although the sky was overcast we were soon in the car and off. Adrian had been talking to a local who had recommended Seaton as a good beach for the boy and the dog so that's where we're headed.

We practically parked on the beach it was so quiet. First stop was the beach cafe (dog friendly  ) for coffee and a rock cake and for Willow to say hello to some other dogs. Next stop was the playground over the road.

Then as we were right at the entrance to the country park we headed into there for a walk.

We found a pond.

The boy found a rope swing.

Then we eventually found our way out of there.

By the time we got back to the beach area it was nearly lunchtime so we let Steven have another little go in the playground and then went to the Smugglers Inn for lunch. Highly recommended - nice food, very dog friendly, child friendly and Steven beat Daddy on the game with the sticks and balls on the big table.

After lunch it was time for the beach. :mental:

We played on the beach until about 5pm. Well me, Steven and Willow played. Adrian mostly sat and read a book. He joined in with the frisbee game at the end but that had to stop after the dog broke the frisbee.

Last go in the playground.

On the drive home we passed within 300ft of a cache and Adrian refused to stop. :(

We were back in time for In The Night Garden. The dog was broken again and Steven was asleep as soon as he was in bed.

Successful day.

Wow, you really seem to find those dog friendly places, I don't it's like that here in the States or I'm not looking hard enough.

This made me laugh!

Egg and 'Soldiers' is boiled egg with toast but the toast is cut into strips, around four which makes is easy to dip into the egg.
