Anyone renewed recently?

We need to renew 2 adult and 1 child passports before next summer. Adrian seems to think we need to travel to Southampton because we have to get new biometric passports.

Excellent, I just need to go and speak to the miserable man at the Post Office then.

And get the boy to not smile at the camera.

I just got the boys new ones and just picked up the forms from post office, filled in and posted off - I didn't do the post office check and both back within 2 weeks

Dawn if you have a photo optix or similar near you it's well worth getting the photos done there - they are a bit more expensive than the booths but they take a digital photo and they make sure it is exactly right for the passport - we had our booth photos of the kids turned down last time as their eyes were in the wrong place!

That's what I did a couple of months ago. Very simple.
I had the pics taken at a digital booth which gave you plenty of time to choose the pic. There is a leaflet with the application form which explains exactly how the photo should look.

I got mine back in about three weeks. Dd's is away at the moment. Her old passport was sent back on Friday, so I would think her new one will follow soon. Her's should take about 3 weeks in total too.

Sent my application off this afternoon. Now I need to keep my fingers crossed it's back in time.

I will need to renew both my British and Aussie ones before next trip. Expensive! :sorry:

I could just travel on the Aussie one, but I like having both!

Ours need renewing next year... not like the photos even vaguely resemble us anymore anyway! Herself's is a 20 year old photo! They simply used the original when she sent it in for renewal the last time.

We had our youngest sons returned as he had his head a little bit of centre to the camera, so they are really being picky know. so no smiling.

And it'll be this that stops us going to DLRP!

 Yes, they are very strict on this now so make sure you study the examples on the leaflet.

The photography shop in town does passport photos so we'll all go in there. They did Steven's when he was a baby for his first passport and it was fine.

Just got mine back - only took 8 working days. I used the PO check and send service. Photos do not need countersigning on adult renewals if you haven't changed too much in 10 years. You also get any remaining months on your old one added on to the new one :)

Did they add the missing hair and erase the lines?

Tink, Herself's passport photo sounds like my DL photo! I received notice last week that my photo has maxed out at 12 years--although they renew DLs for 20 years. So I am required to go in and have a new photo taken--for a fee, of course! Why they renew a license for longer than the photo is valid is completely incomprehensible to me! :sigh:

How could you say such a thing :slap:

...Are they green and a little short and like "mars"bars ???:sorry:

One of the guys at work tried to take pic of his son as he was being naughty and not sitting still he thought he would bribe him with an ice cream, as he was then sitting still he was about to take pic and asked his boy to put ice cream down and he said his boy stood up ran over to him and tripped and stuck his icecram straight into the camera lense...he took him to photo booth in Sainsburys and got them done !!
