Beautiful People

Well! It has certainly been a whirlwind hasn't it? New site up and running, invitations to join, meeting so many old friends here, welcoming new...

The boards are moving so fast that I've not had a chance until now to even consider "blogging." (I know it stands for web logging, but I find the term awkward). :sigh;

I've done quite a bit of thinking these past several days. What does a Disney internet site "mean?" What is its purpose? Why do so many people come to them? My only consistent answer is "sharing." We all want to share part of our love for Disney, our joy at our various holidays, our individual expertise and things we've learned about Disney...and we all want to share a piece of ourselves too.

Isn't that where the tricky bits come in? When we share bits of ourselves with internet friends, many of whom we've not met, and may not ever meet, we do in on pure faith. Faith that we won't get hurt. Faith that we won't hurt others.

Sometimes the inevitable will happen. Trust will be broken. People will end up hurting one another, but you know, life really does go on. If we were to allow those broken bits of trust and loss of faith to permanently scar us, then those people who broke that trust would have more power than they deserve, eh? We need to forgive and move on. Forgiving does not mean condoning, or forgetting. It simply releases the hurt and bad feelings memories of another may be causing you. Whoosh! Goodbye! No more power to hurt.

Funny how powerful the internet can be, isn't it?

This lovely site is a new, fresh place. A place that will first and foremost welcome all and take it on faith that all are here to enjoy, share and be friendly. We will all work to keep the faith, shall we?

I am deeply touched by the comraderie here. There is joy and laughter even in the good natured teasing of one another. We celebrate our differences here. Wouldn't it be a dreadfully boring world if we were all the very same?

Please, if you will allow me? I would like to extend my personal thank you to each and every single one of you. Thank you for believing, for coming here, for sharing in the faith and renewing trust. You are an incredible group of members, but only because each of you is so very incredible in and of yourselves.

So, thank you my friends. Thank you for being the beautiful people you are.

Hmmmmm, beautiful people...might make a good title!
