I realize I've asked for more than my fair share of pixie dust lately - but I hope you won't mind.
This is my cousin, Maddox. He was born 17 days ago and has remained in NICU since. He has been diagnosed with congenital chylothorax. Basically, there is a tear or kink in his lymphatic system so when his lymph system tries to filter and process things it leaks fluid into his chest cavity. In his 17 days he has been through a lot - needle aspirations, chest tubes, ventilators...the works. The good news is these typically heal on their own with time. The bad news is they have to remain in the hospital until it heals and they have no way of knowing when that will be. They have a daughter, Mackenzie, who is two and the family has been so strong and faithful. Unfortunately after 2+ weeks I think the stress is beginning to take it's toll -
So if you could spare a thought for them today - for some good news - I'd appreciate it more than you know. My heart truly aches for this little family. If you'd like, you can read more here.
