I dont know if it sounds awful but we've spent everything on the holiday and wont have much left, do free upgrades ever happen? like on the flights or the hotel or anywhere really? :lol:

very rarely nowadays which I guess is right, would never turn it down though :lol:
We've never had one in all the years we've flown
My husband gets them occassionally, but it's when he goes on Business Trips so he's alone - he's so jammy

When we flew to London in 2007 we got an upgrade to Business on BA from PE on the US-UK leg.
we were upgraded once on the plane ( US Airways) due to overbooking of the flight . Then another time we stayed value and got upgraded to a pool side preferred room. Hasn't happened in years though . I think they are very few and far between, if done at all .
I've never been upgraded for free on a flight. I've had it happen with rental cars and hotels.
Back when I was flying all over on business I got frequent free upgrades. The last one we got was in 2007 when BA upgraded us from PE to Business (not what they call it but the equivalent) on our way to London.
