Busch gardens is in tampa I believe which is a long way but probably could go there if it really was so much better than the animal kingdom?
Has anyone been and would you recommend it? If so how long would you say it's worth spending there?

I love AK, so am completely biased. :)
I do not like BG at all. I found their treatment of animals (overcrowded habitats, ect.) to be disturbing, and actually left the park "early." :embarassed:
So, I'd tell you no. Others love the place though, so you'll have to weigh all responses, eh?
BG is about an hour from Orlando.
for the rides its worth it, but its a long way to go just for that, as for the rest of the park i wasnt a fan when we went in 2000. a lot has changed there since then but i dont think id go now, id rather go down that way to spend a day at clearwater beach :D
I love Busch Gardens
Sandra
I love it there too, got some brilliant rides
I have to say, i didnt think that the animals were kept poorly - we went in 2008
My DH's favourite park
We usually spend two days there and love the place. We don't do many of the rides at all though, it's all animal based for us.
Earlier this year we spent the day with the elephant keepers behind the scenes. We learnt so much and it also put my mind at ease about the space those elephants have. From first glance, it looks like their area is quite small but, believe me, there is a lot more land that the general public don't see for the elephants.....including a 15 foot deep play pool.
