What do people think of the new app store for mac......
It looks like a good way to keep all your software up to date and keep a record of what you've bought etc. In one sense I think it's good, in another way I think I'd prefer them to have developed something a bit better/more useful? :unsure:
I just now got the update and am having a "first look".
So far, I like it. I like it a lot! It puts all of what I'm looking for in one cohesive spot. :thumbsup:
Of course, it also means that the developers have to adopt doing business in it. But I think that'll be a no brainer. Especially for the small developer who was just using his web site as a store front and something like Digital River or Paypal for payment processing.

A bit early for me to say, I quite like the idea of being able to download everything from one easy place and have it tell me about updates. Another way, I dont like the idea of Apple being SO much in control.Quote:

The price thing is a bit of a sore spot for me. What are you actually paying for? With books it's easy to calculate the retail price, but with a digital version the only 'costs' towards making it is basically the ongoing hosting on the server somewhere to download it from?

Nope. This is a totally new store that gets installed for Mac users with the Mac OS X 10.6.6 update. Provides a new application for the Mac App Store and a menu pick off the Apple menu.Quote:
