Additional Car hire surcharge at Orlando Airport from October 1st 2008

Increasing the cost of car hire, from October 1, 2008, Orlando International Airport will be implementing a Customer Facility Charge. All clients collecting cars from On Airport rental desks will incur a charge locally at the time of collection.

The cost of the charge will be $2.50 plus tax for each day of the car rental to a maximum of $12.50 plus tax.

The purpose of that charge is what? :( Seems as though everything is increasing and this isn't exactly the best economic time to do so! :(

and thats if you have already paid for it?

Well it's something levied by the airport not the car hire place but I know some packages say "all airport charges included" so ;) I think you'd have to call whoever you hire it with to be sure

ok thx.......so is the total the actual ceiling they will charge for the whole hire period or a total for a days hire

As I understand it, it's the total cap for the period.

so if hired for 5 days or more it'll be $12.50

that could have been another $35 just for airport greed, i know its not a lot around £14

Well every little bit matters and even $12.50 is a fair amount just because orlando airport fancies some more money

I agree Tink, money is getting tight for a lot of people now and I know $12.50 plus tax isn't a lot of money, but it's going to annoy a lot of people, especially when they don't know anything about it until they get to the rental desk :(

It's a crazy decision to make. We already pay more for the hire car by renting it from an onsite company. I understand the reason for that is because the Airports charge the rental companies more for being onsite :rolleyes008: Now they are charging the tourist as well :(
