In your experience, how hard has it been trying to get a different resort from your home resort?
I know this must change depending on the time of year, Im guessing at Xmas it will be impossible, probably pretty hard at the Epcot resorts during the Food and Wine festival, but say maybe during the summer?

It honestly does matter what time of year it is. Also, the larger DVCs are usually more available than the smaller ones.
Yes, depending on the festival, the DVC closest in proximity will fill up the quickest. BCV and BWV go first for FWF, BLT and VWL for Gay Day, things like that.
If you are flexible with your dates you may have more luck.
We were thinking of buying at BLT, but we love WL and the price is so muh better there, that we are now considerig buying at WL and tryin gto stay the first years around September at BLT... In a few years time with no strollers, staying at WL wont be a big deal :)
