Avengers’ makes over a $1 billion
"The Avengers" joined the elite $1-billion club this weekend, passing the massive box office milestone in just 19 days of worldwide release.
After setting the record for the biggest domestic opening ever, the superhero adventure had a massive second weekend, raking in $103.2 million. That raised the film's total in the U.S. and Canada to $373.2 million, and combined with the movie's $628.9 million international haul, the picture joined the ranks of 11 other films that have sold over $1 billion worth of tickets.
In a statement Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger noted, "“We’re obviously thrilled with the global success of 'The Avengers.' It’s a fantastic movie and an extraordinary franchise that will continue with more great stories and compelling characters for years to come.”

While amazing, I don't see things like this as very Disney, like those horrible power rangers :(

:yeahthat:
But I suppose it just goes to show that Disney is in fact, a business. Pure and simple. Driven by profit.
Everything else seem now to be secondary. Sadly. :sigh:
Maybe this will take some of the sting out of John Carter for them.
Tom (:macwave:... not like it used to be...)

me too. it won't go down as being in my top ten but I thought the way they brought all the other superheroes into it was quite clever and I'd watch a sequel

Disney purchasing Marvel Entertainment back in 2009 could be the smartest move they've made in the last 15-20 years (along with Pixar in 2006).
