is there a kindle that you can do this with? thanks..
Basically, in a sentence, if you want an ideal device to read and only to read, buy the kindle.
The kindle is a better size and weight than the ipad for reading. Easier to hold, more comfortable to hold for longer and in decent light, or lamp light, the e-ink display is arguably easier on the eyes.
So if you JUST want to read, get the kindle.
Once you start saying oooo I think I'd also like facebook, and it'd be useful to go on the odd site here or there and perhaps get my email. Although you CAN do it on the kindle, the ipad is better.

Donna has the Kindle Fire. She uses it primarily for reading but also connects to FB and other internet sites. She loves it.

That's what I'm trying to convince Caitlin, but she also wants spending money for her holiday so doesn't want to spend too much on an iPad. The kindle fire sounds interesting though, do currys etc have one you can go and look at?

I dont think they're selling the kindle fire over here yet? so nope you can't yet see or buy them unless you get it from the states.
I do have one and I do think it's a nice half way house between the kindle normal and the ipad. Definitely good value at the price.
Given it's unavailable over here at the moment, there is the blackberry playbook for £169 at pcworld. Josh has already talked about how good he thinks it is and it certainly is at a bargain price. You have to mess a little to get the kindle app on it but not TOO much http://crackberry.com/how-get-amazon...berry-playbook

Oh.... Maybe we can wait and see, she's using my old original iPad at the moment to download books, but Jon uses this too Hence the problem!

Re: Tell me about Kindles
I love my kindle. I have gone through a few different versions, but I absolutely love it. I just want to read. That's it. It looks just like a paperback and it's much lighter than the original version of it. To be honest, I don't think I could ever give up my kindle.
