I remember as a kid there being some places where you had to put a dime in the door for it to open to the toilet, but haven't seen that is a zillion or so years.

Mostly you don't pay. It's places like train stations and the ones on the streets that charge because the council have to pay to keep them clean. They used to be a penny - that's where the phrase "spend a penny" came from.
Most of the places like tourist attractions and stores and stuff don't charge. I just got caught at the wrong moment. Well worth 50p though just for that seat.
Waterloo Station is 30p but you just get plain white for that.

Slight angst about the babe on the tube BUT I think it's going to be such a great atmosphere that it won't feel like usual London and I am guessing it will feel more like 'Disney' and people will be happy to give us room to change him.
