Disney Cruise Line Brings Christmas Cheer to Port Communities
This holiday season, Disney Cruise Line crew members serving as Disney VoluntEARS are making a difference in many ports of call, reaching out to more than 2,600 people in nine communities throughout The Bahamas, the Caribbean, Mexico and Port Canaveral, Florida.
Holiday visits are an annual tradition at Disney Cruise Line, taking Disney VoluntEARS to visit schools and child-care facilities to distribute gifts, play games and give children a chance to spend some quality time with their favorite Disney characters.
Additionally, officers and crew on all four ships collected toys to benefit the US Marines Toys For Tots Foundation, while crew members living on Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, delivered 1,200 storybooks to children in the surrounding Abaco Islands.
Throughout 2012, Disney Cruise Line cast and crew members contributed more than 4,500 community service hours, supporting a number of causes benefiting children and families, as well as the environment.
