Heading to Fla for a wedding
My wife's cousin is getting married in Sarasota on March 8 and we will be leaving NYC by car on 3/5 hoping to hit Orlando the night of the 6th. We will spend the next day at universal studios/IOA. We will get up on the 8th and hit a few rides before heading to Sarasota for the rehearsal dinner. Saturday is the wedding, Sunday back to Universal for a last time. Monday back on the road to NYC.
Heading to Fla for a wedding
It sounds like a fun time planned and I what a great opportunity to have a few days at Universal.

Whew! That's a lot of driving!
Sarasota is beautiful. I hope you have a safe journey and a wonderful time.
Enjoy Universal!
Re: Heading to Fla for a wedding
Wedding is the 9th not the 8th and yes it is a whole lot of driving but my wife and I don't like to fly and haven't in a while .We just bought a 2012 Town Country last week and are looking forward to putting some mileage between us and the cold weather. I wish we had more time to enjoy Florida but our time is limited due to my wife getting back to her job. I was hoping to squeeze in a spring training game but I don't see how it will be possible this trip. The kids are in the wedding party and my wife and I take part in the ceremony so we are obligated to spend at least two days and nights in Sarasota. Thanks for the good wishes
Re: Heading to Fla for a wedding
Oh spring training would be fun! You know the Yankees train in Tampa and the Red Sox in Ft. Myers... Braves in Orlando... Twins in Ft. Myers too (last I knew).
Re: Heading to Fla for a wedding
Wow, that is a lot of driving. It is a pity that you can't stretch the trip out longer.
Re: Heading to Fla for a wedding
I agree John, my wife is Teacher here in the city and although she has plenty of time on the books the city doesn't make it easy for them to take time off.
Re: Heading to Fla for a wedding
Well, that sure does make it hard to get time off, being a teacher I mean. Suppose you can't get the bride and groom to hold off until summer vacation, huh? ;)
Re: Heading to Fla for a wedding
TINK I wish they would have had it during the summer, the prices of hotels in sarasota the weekend of March 8-10 are pretty high compared to August. The weather can be hit or miss in early March. This wedding is costing me a pretty penny and I only get 1 full day of Universal and part of two other days.
