Orlando International Airport - Security changes
Security Checkpoint Self-Select Lanes
Orlando International Airport now features "Self-Select Lanes" at the security checkpoints which provides passengers with the opportunity to “self-select” the lanes they believe are best suited for their experience level while maintaining the same level of security for everyone.
Families & Special Assistance
These passengers may or may not be familiar with TSA procedures but are traveling with children and strollers, in large groups, may be elderly, or have disabilities requiring special assistance from the TSA.
Casual Traveller
These passengers should be somewhat familiar with TSA procedures and travel at least once a year.
Expert Traveller
These passengers should be very familiar with TSA procedures and travel frequently. They should understand the liquids and prohibited items policy.
Re: Orlando International Airport - Security changes
Yep, I've experienced this self selection and let me tell you, folks have an unreasonably high opinion of their travel abilities.
I've been in the expert lane with more people who didn't have a clue, than with folks who travel more than once a decade.
Don't get too excited about this until they have some way of making sure the self selection process is more effective. :)
Re: Orlando International Airport - Security changes
Excuse my ignorance - What is TSA?
Re: Orlando International Airport - Security changes
Transport Security Administration
Re: Orlando International Airport - Security changes
They are the people who do all the bag checking, security checkpoints, metal detecting, body searches and the like...
Re: Orlando International Airport - Security changes
you would think it would make things simpler , uh . But I'm sure people see a shorter line and say I know what I'm doing , meanwhile the line is a mile long again .
