Birdwatching - anyone out there?
Since I' ashamed to say springwatch - have gotten quite into feeding the birdies in the garden. have a load of different feeders at difefren levels and put out peanuts, seed, fatballs and mealworms and there has been an explosion in the numbers of visitors to the garden over the last few weeks - must set up the camera and try and take some pics but so far we have had
Nuthatches
Starlings
Crows
Magpies
Sparrows
Robins
Blue Tits
Coal Tits
Long Tailed Tits
Great Tits
Redpoll
Greenfinches
Goldfinches
Wren
Blackbirds
Collared Doves
Wood pidgeon
Greater Spotted woodpecker
Jays
Green Woodpecker
Seagulls
Kestrel ( after the smaller birds)
 and a few others - TBH theyve probably always been there but it is a joy watching them and the squirrels
Anyone else? or is this yet furtehr evidence of my advancing age

Good on yer Skywatcher.
I too put out loads of bird food although I can`t claim to have seen as many different types of bird that you have managed to attract.
Loads of pesky squirrels though nicking the food! :(
Re: Birdwatching - anyone out there?
I put put food but the sea gulls eat it :(

Re: Birdwatching - anyone out there?
I try. We have birdfeeders and stuff all around. We have a Cocker Spaniel - they have an inbuilt instinct that makes them chase birds. :(
We get a lot of starlings which seems to put off other birds.
But I do see blue tits, collared doves, and we had a blackbird pair nest in our wisteria this year.
We also have a resident robin who comes and watches while I dig the garden. :D
Then we got mice in the shed who ate all the bird food.
Re: Birdwatching - anyone out there?
we have cats but the feeders are up high so the birds can watch for when they are around - we have a separate area for the squirrels to nosh down - I don't mid feeding them they are pretty cute and had babies in the summer

Badgers
Foxes
Brown Rats
Mice
Rabbits
and hedgehogs in the back garden as well
The badgers make a heck of a mess

We have hedgehogs, foxes and slow worms.
Re: Birdwatching - anyone out there?
We have lots of sparrows. There is occasionally a red robin, a really pretty blue bird of some sort. The cats love to make faces and noises at the birds through the window. The birds seem to know that there is screen/glass to protect them. They get a bit daring too...the birds that is.
The squirrels are ridiculous in our yard. They torment the birds, the cats and especially the dog. They love to eat her food.
We've also had a possum. That thing is scary looking.
The dog also treed some giant rodent looking thing once.
