Pork cooked Wednesday night (well almost).
Turkey went in the oven at 6am. Should have been ready at 10.30 but needed an extra 1½hours. Then the pork went in for another hour to finnish off along with the potatoes, parsnips and other things.
All the Christmas light were on and the radio was playing Christmas songs. Just getting ready to serve out when it went very quiet and dark. The electiric had blown.
Eventually found that every time we turn the oven on it trips all the fuses.
If it had happened a bit earlier dinner would have been ruined but we just made it in time.
However dont know when we will be able to contact an electrician. Doubt I will find one before monday so we will be on cold food till then 'cos you can't do roast potatoes in the microwave.
that WAS lucky :hug2: hope you get someone out to fix it soon
We had this once and had to buy a new cooker. Just so you know :( Thank god dinner wasn't ruined XXX
Very lucky, indeed!
Hope you're able to have the problem fixed soon. Cold food is okay--but hot tastes better in cold weather!
Most of the houses we lived in when I was growing up were WWII era--actual fuses rather than circuit breakers. And totally inadequate. We couldn't run the toaster and the vacuum at the same time! Thankfully, the range (cooker) was either natrual gas or on 220v current; everything else was 110. :)
Beginning to run out of pre-cooked food and everything we have in the freezer looks like it has to be put in the oven. Cant even report it till monday. Dont know how long it will be after then either.
Might be turkey butties for tea again.
Well we got the electrician out today and in about half an hour he had fitted a new element and we had heat in the oven. Roast beef for tea tonight!!!:happybounce:
Lol... aw hope you enjoy it XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Whew! Nothing better than to have the technology of modern life in proper working order. :D
Hurrah for your roast beef tea! :D
