keyboard glitches

I have my work laptop at home. At work it is plugged into a docking station, has an external monitor, keyboard and mouse. At home I use it like a true laptop. And I'm having some issues...

I'm in the process of typing up an email to my boss. I'll be just typing away only to find that the cursor has moved backward into the middle of a word! And all I've typed is now mixed into earlier text. I have NO idea why it is doing this. I keep having to move the cursor back to the end of the line to continue typing the sentence.

Any ideas?

Its usually a person's wrist rubbing against the trackpad and moving the cursor... have a look in start - control panel - mouse/keyboard/trackpad and see if you can find a setting for "turn off trackpad whilst typing"

I checked both the mouse and the keyboard sections on control panel and neither say anything about the trackpad.

Well, the config on there may be a "basic" one rather than one with all the necessary drivers :( but I'm pretty sure that's the problem you're seeing

I'm sure it probably is... I don't have this probably on my personal laptop, tho. It just makes it difficult to get anything accomplished when I can't type...

yeah :( do you have sufficient permissions on the laptop to install new drivers? if so, I'm sure we could find them on the manufacturers website and it's a very easy install

LOL No, Keith. We have no administrative permissions on our laptops. Any installations are pushed to us by our LAN folks.

yeah thought as much, the case everywhere these days (quite rightly really)

This happens when I use the laptop ALL the time. It's very aggravating!

Perhaps you can chat to the I.T guys in work?
