Nicely done - you are right the focus is a little soft and TBH this is the biggest pain of all - what setup were you using?
the first one was f 5.6 1/250 and 300 and the second was f11 1/250 and 213
iso 100 wb auto. How do you focus though?
Take pic - check focus - twist it a little - repeat time after time - do you have a lockable focus - I have a mark on mine in pencil at the right point of focus - but it took an age to find

Have a look on your lens and there should be an infinity marking, note that it won't be when the lens focus is rotated the whole way (as logic says it should be), it'll be twisted all the way then back a bit.
I suspect that's the softness in the image
