Well, still on St. Petersburg beach, there's The Tradewinds Resort

That's also pretty nice although it's not The Don.

      Where'd you see that rate???

The ones I'm seeing at the Don are around $234 to $274 per night. Still a bit steep but loads better than $600!

      Re: Busch Gardens Accomodation

We've stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in St. Petes, the grounds are nice and they have an on-site restaurant, a small beach area and a playground. Their is a boat harbour there as well. The price was good but the location is a bit odd but convenient to alot of attractions like the State Park which has a beautiful, beautiful beach, Fort ? . Hope someone here knows the name because it's lovely!!!!!

DeSoto would be the name you're looking for. Between I-275/19 and Beach Boulevard (where the Don is) off the Pinellas Bayway (682). Part of Fort Desoto state park. Web page here: Fort Desoto

We also enjoyed our stay at Holiday Inn Sunspree, especially when we had our own private showing of a couple of young Dolphin displaying just off the beachline....amazing!
The State Park I think you are after the name could be Fort De Soto?

Brit, I just checked again and did a random stay next August from the 9th through the 14th (Monday through Friday). 3 People (2 adults and one kidlet). Total package came out to $614 for all 5 nights. About $123 per night. Better!

Besides, I rather think Steven might enjoy Uncle Andy's Old Fashioned Ice Cream parlor right in the hotel!
