New member - going to Disney December

Hi everyone, I am a new member, my name is Heather. I am a single mum with one child called Tia who is 9. We have just booked to go to disney with the family in December. We are all sooooooooo excited its Tia's first trip but I went when I was little which as it has probably changed so much is like a first trip for me to . If anybody has been during december I would love to hear from you about what it is like and what the weather was like .

First of all a very warm welcome to Secrets Heather.

You are going to be in for a treat.
December is a great time to visit WDW if only to see all of the decorations in the parks and the resorts.
Make sure to check out as many of the resorts as you can as some of them are fantastic....the GF for example [apart from having a HUGE Christmas tree in the lobby] has a life size gingerbread house which is well worth seeing.
If you get the chance then Celebration is also very pretty at this time of the year and each evening on the hour you will be able to see "snow" fall along Market Street and carol singers abound. There is also a fantastic Santa Claus in a grotto.
The nights and mornings can get a bit chilly so packing a sweater would be a good idea, but during the day the weather is very pleasant usually....at least it is to us Brits!

I went in December 2003 which was our first time, it was amazing great weather the parks are all decorated for christmas and the shows are great. You are going to have an amazing time sharing the magic with your daughter.
Not sure if you know about Mickeys very merry christmas party. it is at Magic kingdom in the evening and it is fab.

We have been to WDW for the past 5 or 6 yeras at Christmas and it is truly wonderful.
As Slowhand has said, the weather can be absolutely gorgeous but, in the evenings you can sometimes need a sweater and long trousers.

The parks are beautifully decorated and they have special Christmas parades and shows, not to mention the Osborne Lights at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Thank you for your comments, we are sooooooooo excited about going and after reading all your comments its makes me even more excited I don't know who is worse me or my daughter We have been watching the new years eve fireworks on youtube I did think it might spoil the surprise watching the video's of the fireworks but it won't really because I can image its probably nothing like being there

I am glad the weather will still be nice at christmas because that was my main concern.

Hi and welcome!

Christmas time is magical (even more so it seems).

Visit some of the resorts and see some of the decorations. My personal favorite was the Wilderness Lodge. And the Grand Floridan is beautiful with the gingerbread house.

I think I enjoyed the Osborne Lights the most. They were stunning. Having lived in FL for two years I was so excited to see "snow" again. The lights are stunning.

I love this tree! I have several pictures of it, but then again, I only place blue lights on my tree.
