I'm looking for ...
a not too expensive underwater camera. Any ideas?
I want to end up with some decent, good quality shots.

Re: I'm looking for ...
You may be better off getting an underwater housing for the camera you have, what model of normal camera do you have at the moment? Some of the cheapy bags are only £15 or so

Re: I'm looking for ...
I just picked up a Canon D10 before our trip. It's a waterproof, shockproof, 12.1 megapixel digital camera. Also has video capability.

It's not cheap but it's not terribly expensive either and I've been real happy with it. Seems to take very good photos and for somewhere like WDW, it's much easier than hauling my Nikon D70 around.

... now I'm conflicted... I own both Canon and Nikon!

Re: I'm looking for ...
I had thought of this option Keith but I'm not understanding how they can be waterproof and give you ease of use when hitting the camera buttons etc!
We have the Canon 400D and a small Sony Cyber Shot
A bit more than I want to spend as I am happy with the cameras we have at the moment....except for the underwater part!!!

Re: I'm looking for ...
Okay now, I want the Canon D10. That's awesome! Waterproof and shockproof. It could pour at WDW and I could still take a photo. I would not be afraid of Kali Rapids anymore, Splash Mountain would not bring terror....

Re: I'm looking for ...
Some brands have those hard shelled containers that make the cameras waterproof. Different option than the bag.

Re: I'm looking for ...
Exactly my reasoning! And I couldn't be more pleased with it. While it didn't pour down rain and we didn't get to do either Kali River Rapids or Splash Mountain, I still feel the camera more than lived up to it's promise. I'm very pleased!

For reference, here's a couple of photos and a video I took at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party. The photos have only been resized. The video has only been uploaded to YouTube. All shot with the D10. Now, the fireworks shot, I could have used a tripod or a monopod. But for hand held shots in the dark, I don't think it came out too bad!
The Mouse with the Skull in the last shot is our little traveling Mickey that Slowhand brought with him!
Tom (
... oh, yeah... here's the video)
