DVD help.
I have recorded several films from the tv onto my dvd recorder hard drive and to free up space I want to copy these onto some dvd`s which I can then watch at my leisure.
I`ve just been to PCWorld where I was told that the largest capacity dvd that they do is 4.7GB which is good for up to 2 hours of video and they said that this is the largest capacity available. [Mind you the salesperson seemed to be only just out of his nappies [diapers]!] LOL
Some of the films I recorded are longer than 2 hours.
Any suggestions from any film buffs/techno experts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: DVD help.
There are DVD DL disks but not sure if there are any playback issues with these. They are about 8gb I think.
EDIT: Just googled;

Re: DVD help.
Terry,
There's also dual layer DVD's which hold up to 8.5Gb of data. However, using those depends on whether or not your DVD burner supports dual layer. Most computers and DVD burners somewhere in the spec will tell you what they're capable of reading and writing. It will look something like this:
DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RAM, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
If it's got the "+R DL" on it, it's capable of doing the double layer discs. This nets you about 3 1/2 hours of video.
BTW... those figures up above are from my Mac which CAN burn dual layer.
(hint, hint)
Tom (
... it's never simple, is it?)
