      no, in theory you are allowed to travel to and from france up until the expiry of your passport.

      The only problem in this security mad age is if you get a know nothing jobsworth, usually in the UK who thinks you need more.

      In theory you don't even need a passport, we use them in this country as we don't have any other cast iron guarentee of identity like ID cards ( I know I know), but as we are allpart of the EU you don't need a 'passport' to travel between countries - just solid ID

      The main issue is getting back in to the uK

      This is indeed very very true right of free travel around the EU is one of the fundamental rights as an EU citizen. In fact, I believe they'll even accept an out of date passport as ID to prove you're a citizen of a member state.

      The problem is always going to be the jobsworth in the UK though
