I THINK Jeff means a camera to be used for video conferencing etc, once you have a camera in there lets face it, it can be a webcam easily enough

I use this feature when I am away from home.....

As it is like 'phoning' home.... (okay... phooooonnnnneeeee hoooooooommmmmeeee!)


I suppose if they do have web cam at the next gen, it could drain the battery quite a bit...

True enough. I was thinking more along the lines of actually using the webcam.

If the camera were on the back of the iPad, it would be difficult to use as a webcam since you'd have to turn it around and then you couldn't see the screen.

If the camera were on the front of the iPad (the screen side), then it would be difficult to use as a camera since you'd have the touch screen facing away from you while you're trying to take a picture.

However, in another thread, Jeff was asking about possible uses for the iPad Camera Kit adapter. This might a possibility. The Camera Kit adapter and an external USB camera.

My guess is tiny camera on the front like the macbook pro/imac primary use for iChat etc and just about get away with using it to take the odd photo when needed. Of course one either side is what a lot of cheapy cell phones have soooo
