Bought myself a new camcorder
Bought a JVC HERE
I'm now looking to buy the memory cards for it and a spare battery. If I leave the spare battery until we get to Florida, do you have any suggestions for shopping places to try for it.....I'm hoping it will be less expensive over there (around £80 in the UK)
There doesn't seem to be a generic battery for this camcorder at the moment.

Re: Bought myself a new camcorder
you kept that quiet Missie! You KNOW we demand everyone announces purchases here 4 weeks in advance so the rest of us can agonise over the alternatives (and Mick can tell us not to buy Apple) etc.!!!!!
How did you decide? I'm kinda tempted by an HD corder too

Re: Bought myself a new camcorder
Lots of research online and went out to Comet etc and chatted with the staff there. One girl was very helpful who had just returned from a course about camcorders even though she knew I wasn't going to buy in the shop as I can always find this sort of item cheaper online.
I also wrote down all of the things I wanted from the camcorder such as HD, size, optical zoom etc.
(I actually did end up going back to Comet and purchased it there as they matched the chepaest online price that I found)

Re: Bought myself a new camcorder
Although I love my stills cameras, I've never got into video. I keep saying to isafari, how do you get such great videos! All mine are sloppy, all over the place, boring and generally a waste of time
And thats AFTER my eye has been glued to the viewfinder for the whole holiday.

Re: Bought myself a new camcorder
yep, I have a canon 7d and 5dmkii both of which do some very very nice HD video it's true but, and I dont know if its true of nikon or just the canons I have, they really seem meant for setting up on a tripod with a fixed focus. So you can make a great movie if you do it scene at a time, but it's much harder to do what you do with a normal camcorder and just whiz it round

Re: Bought myself a new camcorder
Nope, nothing yet....just been messing with the birds on the feeder in the garden. My new camcorder is so small I can just pop it in a pocket

Well, I love watching my camcorder footage.....do it while on the cross trainer
If given the choice of taking either camcorder OR camera, I'd choose the camcorder.
