Re: New Section - Day Trips
If you fancy spending some time over in the Tampa/Clearwater area then a neat day trip is to go to Tarpon Springs. It is just like a Greek Village where you can learn the history of sponging.

Re: New Section - Day Trips
Arkvilla's post has prompted me to say this so please, just blame her

If anyone is interested in doing an article on an area where you think would make an ideal place to visit from Orlando for a day (or two), I'd be more than happy to publish them on the home page in our Day Trip section.
Doesn't have to have bells and whistles, just your own views of the particular area.
Go on....dare ya!

Re: New Section - Day Trips
St. Augustine also is home to the Castillo de San Marcos. The Spanish fort that originally guarded Spain's interests in the New World. It was started in 1672 and is made primarily from coquina.
The main historic district of St. Augustine is an easily walked area including the Castillo. It includes numerous historic landmarks such as The Oldest House, the Colonial Spanish Quarter Museum, the Government House Museum, and the Lightner Museum housed in the former Hotel Alcazar which was built in 1887 by Henry M. Flagler and is located right across the street from Flagler College.
All in all, St. Augustine, the nation's oldest city, provides a fascinating, living glimpse of history.

... absolutely worth the trip for a day or two)
