Help to plan a disneyland paris short break?

Any Disneyland Paris experts out there????

It's a special birthday for someone in the family this year and it would be great to spend it at Disney. Florida is out as it'd need to be just a few days so I'm thinking that a few days at Disney Paris would be just perfect.

I've only been to DLP once by coach for a day so I know nothing about any of the hotels, how to get there from the airport or anything

So, where to start? Any good discounts? what's the best hotel or hotels to aim for? I guess flying is easiest from the north west uk? then there's a bus service or something?

Well we have been about 10 times and we love it there.

First and foremost it is NOT WDW , I know you've been before, and I'm sure you kow this already but it has a very different feel to it.

In many ways we actually prefer it to WDW, you can't go to WDW for a weekend for a start the rides are very very good and the park is breathtakingly pretty with the best castle in any park ever IMHO.

Bt the best thing is the best Disney hotel ever in the Disneyland - it is achingly opulent and it forms the gates to the Disneyland park so you couldn't be closer to the park.

But it is expensive

If you want to go all out ( as we have once) there is castle club which has its own floor and elevator, own restaurant with free drinks and afternoon tea, rooms overlooking the castle, own elevator to the park ( oh yes) and best of all a unlimited golden fastpass.

If you have the funds and you want the ultimate I'd do a 3 day 2 night in castle club

The retaurant in the Disneyland is also amazing witnh one of the best buffets ever - but again very expensive TPFWYG

If you want castle club its best to book direct with DLP on the phone and we book direct with eurostar as we aren't that far from a station

Other times we used to book with Paris Travel as they were the cheapest by a long way and we have stayed at the Sequoia many times, Newport bay, Santa Fe and... that may be it.

This has made me want to go back soooo much

ok well it's an important birthday but it's only next month so Im guessing we may have availability issues at this late stage but I'll phone and ask about the castle club just in case.

What about those other hotels you mention? What are they like?

We're planning to go back again in August and will probably book it as we have done the last three times, all separately.

Firstly we book Explorers Hotel via their own website as we all fit in a crew six room. We try to book for a Sunday arrival as that offers the best saving. We book the tunnel well in advance on the Channel Tunnel website as you can get it as cheap as Ł49 each way as long as you can book at least a couple of months out. To be honest, as far as park tickets go, you're never going to get much difference in prices. I troll the web for a good price and the differences are minimal. So we buy ours from the front desk at the Explorers.

I know our hotel isn't a Disney Hotel but it's a very short free bus ride away and the hotel theming is superb, they have a fab pool and excellent breakfast buffet. An added bonus is the shop inside is a Disney store!

So this is how we make it affordable for us. I have to agree with Skywatcher though. Back when we only had the two girls we did 3 nights/4 days in Castle club and would do it again in a flash. I loved the free tea, coffee, pasties and cakes available from the little lounge every afternoon and the private lift that brought you out by the ticket booths.

I'm off to buy a lottery ticket...

Sequioa lodge is a 'mid range' hotel which is very nice as is the Newport bay both with nice pools but they are very large hotels

For you I think , if avaliablility is not great - look at the hotel New York, thats a bit more classy and 'adult'

If castle club is not avaliable I would be amazed if normal rooms in the Disneyland aren't though andit really is a super hotel

I took DH last year and we travelled via Eurostar and it was so easy thing to do!

We walked to our hotel which was New York which was huge and lovely but very adult environment and minimal 'Disney' feelings.

It was lovely to be able to walk to the parks (Disneyland opens early for people who staying at Disney resort and managed to ride on the Space Mountain three or four times first thing in the morning!)

The food is quite expensive so we took out 'dining plan' and we saved tons of money!

It was lovely couple of days break and everything felt so close and I had real fun there!

Crusher ride is one of the best ride in DLP, space mountain is better at the DLP but Aerosmith is better at WDW.

Is there enough there for 4 nights or so?? Will we be able to have enough nice restaurants "on site" without going outside etc?
