Do You Have To
be staying onsite to be able to use the disney transportation Buses?

No. That is a common misconception. You can use whatever transport is going where you need to go.
You can take a bus from DTD to get to a resort to have a browse around, then hop a monorail to another resort, then take a ferry to MK, or another monorail to EPCOT.
You can visit boardwalk and take a ferry to EPCOT or DHS, or walk. Or from there take a bus to another park, or DTD.
The combinations are endless.

Well we werent sure last time we went - so we sat very quiet on the bus and hoped nobody would notice us! Not very easy to do with a 2 year old!

we travelled on them on our 2nd trip in 02, wasnt sure if it was allowed but we did it anway, there wasnt anything saying you couldnt so we went to another park and back on one
