New York New York- day 3

Shopping and then the rain came and the gun :omg:

Again we are awake at silly o'clock and decide to get up and just make the most of our time here. We start of by heading up towards Pottery Barn via the Apple store to check my orange accountant to see why my phone is not working. In all my visits to the USA i have never phoned to ask for roaming but it looks like i should have, oh well Beth's school and respite home had been told to phone dh number if there was an emergency so i just turned mine off. on leaving the apple store we noticed some filming being done for GMA and walked right passed Joan Rivers getting into a car. We stopped for coffee and a danish as we were going to have lunch today. Now someone needs to tell the Americans to open their stores earlier do they not realise us Brits wake early and they are losing money from us not being able to shop till after 10am . As you guessed Pottery Barn is shut. We decide to head towards my next shop on my list Bed Bath and Beyond. This was quite a jaunt but we had plenty of time. We seem to have gone around a corner and gone from the safe feeling of being a tourist to being in an area i did not fell safe in . I walloped dh for taking the map out to check we were going in the right direction, i mean this just says tourists. Dh thought it was very funny. We finally spot Bed Bath and Beyond when dh informs me he will be sitting outside :omg: but what if i get mugged but he informed me there was more chance of the cc taking a bashing from me than that happening and he was right :d:

We made our way back and checked out Bloomingdales although more to use the restroom and then found Pottery barn again although i was not interested in anything and made my way to the kitchen shop next door were i could of spent a fortune. We then made our way down Lexington Ave back towards our hotel were i spotted a cupcake shop called Crumbs :tounge:, i decided to not buy one here today as i had my mind set on a magnolia cupcake but i would be back. Well i had to check out which was best as i would be bringing some home for the children in Beth's respite home .

We dropped of my purchases and freshened up and then made our way to Grand Central Terminal. The food court here is lovely with lots of different foods on offer. We decided to try an american sandwich, they were ok but nothing to write home about. I then had a red velvet cupcake from Magnolia bakery :tounge::tounge: they were lush believe me

We then made our way down to Macy's and the Manhattan mall. I made quite a few purchases and we left to make our way back to the hotel. Much to our surprise the heavens had truly opened so we managed to flag do a cab and returned to the hotel. I checked out all of my goodies as any girl would do and then took a bath. We were hoping the rain had stopped but sadly it had not. We made our way up to Outback steak house, i will apologise for no photos as i did not take my camera due to the rain, dh did take one of my cocktail on his phone and i will post when he uploads it.

When we made our way up past the hotel all these huge black cars came from no were and two police cars then blocked the road. I turned around to look back to see what was happening to see security every were and this guy pointing a rifle our way :erm:, this guy came walking down and did not stop when the guy turned the gun on him and shouted stop were you are :omg:. Within a few seconds all the cars and the security had disappeared. I did not see who came out as i was to busy looking at the guy thinking stay there you idiot but dh said 3 men in suits had been escorted out of our hotel. We carried on towards the restaurant. We were soaked through time we got there.

I had a frozen berry lemonade cocktail , it was quite sweet but nice. Dh and i both had steak and i had shrimp with mine. We were to full for dessert so left. The rain was still pouring so we decided it was a night of trying to find something to watch on the tv. We past another crumbs on the way back were i purchased a carrot cake cupcake, well i am on holiday . It was very nice and much bigger than the Magnolia cupcake although Magnolia was much tastier. I ate half and save the other for tomorrow. I am sad to say i was asleep by 8pm :blush:
