Re: Gulf coast
Nope, Hampton Inn and Suites on Beach Drive (just across from the yacht club). It's not that far to the beach pier... we walked from the hotel to there?
Not much of a beach (for sunbathing and that sort of thing)...Thank you for being a member of our Secrets Family!!! We are so very pleased to have you with us!

Re: Gulf coast
That's the Hampton Inn and Suites downtown. Yes, it's Beach Drive but it's not St. Pete Beach. That little chunk of sand is on Tampa Bay. I know the spot you're referring to at the base of the pier by Vinoy Basin. Down by the Art Museum and the St. Petersburg History museum. You're right about that one, it's not much of a beach!
St. Pete Beach is actually a real town on the other side of the peninsula out past Pasadena. On the Gulf of Mexico side. That's where the "real" beach is!

Re: Gulf coast
Ah, see what I get for listening to the hotel staff?
It's still a nice area.
Not beachy though.

Re: Gulf coast
Ah. Well. This won't work so well then!

Fort Myers has great beaches.
So does Sarasota.
Siesta Key and all that...

Re: Gulf coast
Far west too. Not a huge fan of that area. A bit too remote.

Re: Gulf coast
How's this look then?
This looks like it was taken right behind the Tradewinds Resort that I mentioned earlier.
Or perhaps this? Looking out at the beach from the Don Cesar that I also mentioned.

Interested?

Re: Gulf coast
This is one of our favorite spots in Florida. Haven't been back in awhile though. Here are some of our recommendations:
Lodging:
Sheraton Sand Key Resort
Double Tree Beach Resort (North Redington Beach)
Food:
Guppy's on the Beach (Indian Rocks Beach)
The Lobster Pot (Redington Shores)
Leverocks (Clearwater Beach) - this is on the south side of the island right before you cross the bridge to Sand Key. Don't know if it is still there)
