Disney Dream’s revamped pirate night more family-friendly
Disney Cruise Line has revamped its Pirates IN the Caribbean night for the Disney Dream, and I think parents will be pleased with the improvements.
On the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic, the all-ages party started about 10 p.m., which was pretty late for young swashbucklers. Now, the evening’s entertainment starts sooner and is divided into three parts: Mickey’s Pirates IN the Caribbean; Buccaneer Blast!; and Club Pirate.
Mickey’s Pirates IN the Caribbean begins at 8 p.m. and is geared toward younger kids with a 25-minute stage show that features Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy. Guests learn to become members of Mickey’s Pirate Crew, and after their training is complete, they must guard against a takeover by Captain Hook.
The kids’ party continues with pirate-themed games for kids on the deck that covers Donald’s Pool until it’s time for the fireworks show, Buccaneer Blast! The new fireworks show is set to a score that features songs from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Peter Pan, and the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at the Disney theme parks.
After the fireworks, an open-air dance party on the upper decks of the ship called Club Pirate kicks off with Captain Jack Sparrow.
This new format allows families to still join in the pirate adventure without trying to keep young kids awake late. Also, crowds are more dispersed, which certainly helps when it comes to seeing the stage.
