Disney Dream's water coaster runs at night
There has been a lot of pre-launch talk about AquaDuck, the water coaster aboard the Disney Dream. But had you ever imagined it as a nighttime activity. During the day, it's quite a view, and it's easy for your deck-bound colleagues to spy you zipping above the deck — and maybe even over the side.
AquaDuck at night has a completely different feeling.
At night, everything is lit up. There are light rings on the sections and the individual chasing lights and, of course, the show lights.
During the "not-so-lazy river" stretch, red and white lights circle the tube, and it almost has a Space Mountain launch feel to it.
There are 765 feet of ride, and about 10,000 gallons of water per minute flow through ride.
The first part of the coaster sends riders 12 feet beyond the side railing, and the riders are 150 feet over the water at that point. (Not quite as tall as Cinderella Castle, but in the neighborhood.)
That leads into a 270-degree loop.
"We have a not-so-lazy river. There's a lot of movement of water," Ricci said.
