Disney drops Tunisia from Mediterranean cruises
The Disney Cruise Line is dropping Tunisia from its itineraries in the Mediterranean, citing the events of recent weeks.
The 1,754-passenger Disney Magic, scheduled to visit the Tunisian capital of Tunis on 10- and 11-night voyages between May and July, instead will make a stop in Palermo on the Italian island of Sicily.
"We continually evaluate our itineraries, and the decision to modify this itinerary was made in part due to the changing political environment in Tunis and the recent Travel Alert issued by the U.S. Department of State for Tunisia," Disney spokesperson Christi Erwin Donnan tells USA TODAY.
Tunisia was considered a highlight of the Disney Magic's upcoming season in Europe. The ship will be based in Barcelona starting in May.
